Shinty / Hurling International
The annual clash between Scotland and Ireland: Scotland’s native game of shinty versus Ireland’s native game of hurling. Shinty is among the fastest, most physically demanding and skilful sports in the world, with the ball exceeding 100mph. The Shinty/Hurling International is the premier representative event in the calendar for players and spectators from both countries alike; without it, neither team would be able to play at international level, which represents the pinnacle of the pathway through the sport. It also exposes each nation to the others’ culture and history, which helps to ensure the event’s survival.
