Fuaim – fantastic new Mallaig band

Inverie, Arisaig, Ballachulish

Living in the stunningly beautiful area around Arisaig and Mallaig on the north west coast of Scotland is a brand new traditional band called Fuaim. From the Gaelic meaning ‘noise’ the group have adopted the tongue in cheek name to reflect their eight piece multi instrumental line up.  With seven girls and one long suffering lad, they instrumentally push the boundaries of their music by playing a beguiling mixture of fiddles, clarsach, guitars, piano, keyboards and percussion in a wide and varied selection of traditional tunes, and especially featuring stunning vocals and harmonies in both Gaelic and English. Already gaining a formidable reputation for their live performances in the Highlands, the band are currently writing new material for their debut album to be recorded this coming winter.
