“A Bard of Wolfe’s Army” - The Oral Memoirs of James Thompson, Gentleman Volunteer, 1757 – 1763

St Duthus Masonic Hall, Queen Street, Tain

Lieutenant Colonel Ian MacPherson MacCulloch delivers a rousing presentation on the life of James Thompson, a Tain man who left to join the 78th Fraser Highlanders in 1757. Thompson fought in Canada during the Seven Years War and took part in two of the bloodiest battles in the North American wilderness, fighting the Indians and the French. Tain and District Museum, supported by Highland Council is also proud to present an exhibition celebrating the life and times of this Highland hero, showing until the 31st October at St Duthus Collegiate Church, Tain. Free entry, open from 10am to 5pm.
